Olney Party Ends in Panic

Report of underage drinking turns into shooting investigation

A house party full of teenagers in Montgomery County came to an abrupt and confusing end Friday night when police swarmed the home, casing it for clues.

Shortly after 9 p.m. Friday, police got a report of a party in the 17500 block of Old Baltimore Road in Olney, where a large group of underage teenagers was reportedly drinking.

Police say that while heading to the home, officers heard a noise they believed to be gunfire, sending many of the teens running from the home.

“It was quite a chaotic scene with all these young adults running around ,” Montgomery County Police Officer Britta Thomas told News4’s Jim Handly.

Soon, more than a dozen police vehicles surrounded the home. However, investigators did not find any evidence of bullet casings or weapons.

“At this time, [officers] are just continuing to deal with the initial report of the underage drinking party,” Thomas said.

Police have not said how many teens were inside the home at the time, and is no word if any teens could face arrest.
