2 Liquor Store Workers Hurt After Man Throws Molotov Cocktail Into Store

Authorities say a man threw a Molotov cocktail inside a liquor store in Beltsville, Maryland, injuring two employees.

The man entered the store on Beltsville Drive Sunday evening and threw a lit container filled with an ignitable liquid, hitting two employees and starting a fire, the Prince George's County Fire/EMS Department said.

One worker remains in a hospital with serious burn injuries. Another employee was treated and has been released.

The fire department says Kevon Robert Edwards of Laurel was arrested and faces charges including attempted first-degree murder.

"Apparently there had been some sort of of ongoing dispute between the people in the store, allegedly, and the suspect," fire department spokeswoman Mark Brady said.

He was arrested after an officer who happened to be in the area saw him running out of the store. Then, the officer smelled gas on Edwards' clothes.

Officials say he is being held at the County Detention Center in Upper Marlboro without bond pending trial. It wasn't immediately clear Wednesday whether he has an attorney.
