Officers Who Died on 9/11 to Be Honored in D.C.

Law enforcement officers who died during the September 11 terror attacks are being honored in Washington.

The names of the 72 peace officers who died 12 years ago Wednesday will be read aloud during a morning ceremony. A wreath will be laid in their honor.

The event will take place at the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial, where the names of the fallen officers are engraved on the wall.

Seventy-one officers from different agencies died at the World Trade Center in New York City. Another officer, a refuge manager with the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, died on Flight 93, which crashed in Pennsylvania when passengers attempted to wrest control of the plane.
