Obamas to Attend D.C. 9/11 Anniversary Events

President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama in will attend events in New York City, Pennsylvania and Washington in September to mark the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, according to the White House.

The attacks killed nearly 3,000 people at the World Trade Center in lower Manhattan, at the Pentagon and in Shanksville, Pa.

"Throughout the day, he will pay tribute to those we lost, honor the Americans who responded on that day and who served in harm’s way over the last decade," White House Spokesman Jay Carney said. "He will underscore the strength, resilience and unity of the American people."

On Sept. 10, Vice President Joe Biden will attend the dedication of the Flight 93 National Memorial in Shanksville, Pa.
