Nothing Suspicious Found After Flight Evacuation at Reagan National

A flight from Washington Reagan National Airport was briefly evacuated and searched Sunday after the crew raised concerns about two men on board.

The men were later released when it was determined they had not committed any crimes, but it's a sign of heightened awareness following Friday's deadly terror attacks in Paris.

Passengers told necn that the men were escorted off the plane before it took off for Boston's Logan International Airport. American Airlines Flight 2124, which was originally slated to leave at 3:30 p.m., reboarded and left at 5:16 p.m.

A spokesperson for American Airlines said the flight was delayed so that the plane could be searched.

Passengers said they were asked to leave all of their bags and luggage on the plane and watched the crew bring in bomb-sniffing dogs.

"You know, it was a little scary, but they were very good and they were very calm," said Sheila Shea of Marlboro, Massachusetts. "But it was a little concerning when they asked us to leave the plane with our belongings on it."

"There were guys with guns and weapons getting on the plane, two people were getting questioned," said Gavin MacPhee of Boston. "The security people were very good. They told us what happened and then we got back on and flew home."
