Nordstrom Loading Dock Worker Accused of Theft

Police: Man smuggled stolen goods out of warehouse in his clothing

A Nordstrom employee is accused of stealing tens of thousands of dollars in merchandise in Prince George’s County.

A loading dock worker at the retailer’s Upper Marlboro, Md., warehouse would take items from shipping boxes, hide them in his clothing and take cigarette breaks to put the merchandise in his car, police said. He took 15-20 cigarette breaks per day -- a lot for someone who doesn’t smoke.

Surveillance video from last week -- a week that saw a heat wave in the region -- shows 32-year-old Donnell Norman with a big winter coat. Police said the coat was stuffed with stolen goods.

Since he began working at the warehouse in May, Norman has taken about $60,000 in watches, jewelry, clothing, sunglasses and more, police said. He would take pictures of the merchandise and sell it online.

Police recovered about $40,000 of stolen goods.
