No Smoking in Eden

In a major suburban drug bust for a notably legal drug, Washington Post crime reporter Josh White says says that 13 people were arrested for smoking cigarettes at the Eden Center in Falls Church.

Except they weren't arrested. City of Falls Church spokeswoman Barbara Gordon told White that those nine smokers and four enablers busted for smoking in non-designated areas were not put in bracelets and hauled down to the station. Rather they were issued citations that carry a maximum $25 fine.

So it's much ado, but not exactly about nothing. Gordon tells White that the City of Falls Church Police Department has been receiving complaints for months about smokers lighting up in the Eden Center's Vietnamese restaurants. The Virginia Clean Air Act made smoking in Virginia restaurants illegal as of last December.
