Niccolo Manzanero Convicted in Brutal Beating in Bethesda Parking Garage

A jury convicted a man involved in a brutal beating in a Bethesda, Md., parking garage of attempted second-degree murder, the Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s Office announced Friday.

Video showed Niccolo Manzanero, 33, repeatedly stomping on the victim’s head after the other attackers stopped beating him in the garage on St. Elmo Avenue April 26, 2013.

A passerby intervened to save the victim, a 33-year-old Rockville man.

“The actions of a good Samaritan prevented a senseless death this April,” State’s Attorney’s Office spokesman Ramon Korionoff said. “Without him, this charge would surely have been murder in the second degree, instead of an attempted homicide.”

The victim survived, but his eye sockets were crushed and he needed a metal plate to repair the damage to his skull.

Manzanero could be sentenced to up to 30 years in prison.
