New US Astronaut Candidates to Visit Smithsonian

The nation's newest astronaut candidates are making a visit to the Smithsonian's National Air and Space Museum.

NASA and the museum will introduce the 2013 class of astronaut candidates Thursday in a public forum at 10 a.m. at the museum. The group includes four men and four women.

This is the first batch of new astronauts in four years.

The new astronaut candidates are Lt. Cmdr. Josh A. Cassada, U.S. Navy; Lt. Cmdr. Victor J. Glover, U.S. Navy; Lt. Col. Tyler N. Hague, U.S. Air Force; Christina M. Hammock, station chief, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration; Maj. Nicole Aunapu Mann, U.S. Marine Corps; Maj. Anne C. McClain, U.S. Army; Jessica U. Meir, assistant professor of anesthesia, Harvard Medical School; and Maj. Andrew R. Morgan, U.S. Army.
