16 DC Kids Find New Homes on National Adoption Day

Hundreds more still looking for new families

Sixteen children were formally adopted this weekend during the 21st annual Adoption Day ceremony at D.C. Superior Court.

Saturday's ceremony was one of many events held around the country as a part of national Adoption Day. Nearly 290 children in D.C. are eligible for adoption this year.

Judge Anita Josey-Herring presided over the ceremony. She said it is important to make sure children are not forgotten and without families.

Kathleen Jackson was among those at the ceremony. She formally adopted her third son, five-year-old Sam, after adopting his biological brothers Tyler and Joseph more than a year ago.
