District Dogs Getting a New Treat

Mayor attends the Upshur Dog Park groundbreaking

Mayor Adrian Fenty is winning over his four-legged constituents.

The mayor attended a groundbreaking ceremony for the new Upshur Dog Park in northwest Washington today.

"This is just a fantastic way to bring the community together. You can literally have hundreds of people come in to use the open space," said Fenty.

The new park is located at 4300 Arkansas Ave. N.W. near the Upshur Recreation Center. Some main attractions include a new dog fountain, plenty of water bowls and, of course, lots of quality time for dogs and their owners.

The dog park, D.C.'s fifth, is expected to open in October.
