For more than 50 years, Washington D.C. was without a local brewery.
That is, until now.
DC Brau has unveiled an American pale ale called "The Public" that was brewed and canned in the District.
The brewery showed off its new brew at Meridian Pint in Columbia Heights on Friday.
People lined up around the block to get a taste, which is described as on the company's website as "a delicious easy drinking pale ale made from a simple recipe of quality grain and top notch American hops."
Right now, you can only get this District beer as a draft in bars and restaurants. The website says cans of the beer should be available mid-April.
