New Allegations Filed Against Ex-D.C. Lawmaker

Former District of Columbia Councilmember Michael Brown is admitting to campaign finance violations as part of a new plea agreement.

Federal prosecutors on Friday filed an amend plea agreement that calls for Brown to be sentenced to up to 43 months in prison, a tougher punishment than previously agreed upon.

Brown pleaded guilty last June to accepting tens of thousands of dollars from undercover FBI agents posing as businessmen from Maryland.

As part of his new plea agreement, he is also admitting to accepting secret campaign contributions during his 2008 race for an at-large Council seat.
