Neighbor Holding Auction for Md. Girl Who Survived Abuse

Two girls found dead in freezer in case that shocked the metro area

SOLOMONS, Md. (AP) -- An auction is being held to help the surviving daughter of a Maryland woman who is accused of killing her two other daughters and placing their remains in a freezer.

The suit-and-tie affair is Thursday from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Hilton Garden Inn in Solomons.

The auction was organized by Phillip Garrett, the neighbor who found the surviving 7-year-old girl in September walking down the street in a pink nightgown caked with blood.

Donated items for the auction include three all-inclusive weekend hotel stays, a round of golf and a Starbucks gift package, Garrett said. Admission to the auction is free.

Renee Bowman is charged with child abuse in connection with the surviving girl, who is now 8 years old. Bowman hasn't been charged in the deaths of the other girls.
