National Park Service to Close Buzzard Point Marina

The National Park Service is looking for new ways for the public to enjoy Buzzard Point after the marina closes at the end of the year.

The NPS and Buzzard Point Boatyard Corporation have notified the 58 marina boat owners of the December 31 deadline for removing all boats, trailers and personal property. The NPS will remove the docks, upgrade the boat ramp, maintain the park and work with the community to determine the future of the area.

The decision to not renew the marina’s contract was reached after deciding the investment for needed upgrades to the facility would “not allow for a financially viable business while providing safe and effective visitor services," according to a NPS press release.
