National Museum of African American History and Culture Will Not Require Passes for Weekdays in September

Visiting the National Museum of African American History and Culture will be a little easier this fall.

Visitors will not need timed-entry passes to visit the museum on weekdays next month. The program, which the museum is calling "Walk-Up Weekdays," starts Sept. 3.

If you're hoping to tour the museum's halls on a weekend, you may be out of luck. Timed passes for September were given out in June. Same-day passes for weekend visits will be available online, but they go quickly.

Access to the museum has been in high demand since it opened in September 2016. Timed passes are free, but they get snapped up quickly when they are released to the public.

The museum will continue to require advance timed passes for groups of 10 or more. Same-day timed-entry passes will not be available on weekdays in September, the museum said.
