Naked Man Watched Family in Woodbridge, Fled Into River, Police Say

A family was eating dinner in Woodbridge, Virginia, Thursday night when they noticed someone watching them: a naked man.

Prince William County Police say Robert Shannon, 52, exposed himself to the family.

A man called police and said he saw the naked man watching his family. The man tried to confront the naked man, but he ran away and then jumped into the Occoquan River, police said.

Officers responded to the 13100 block of Marina Way about 10 p.m. and found the accused still naked in the river. Officers determined he was intoxicated.

Shannon, who lives in Woodbridge about four miles west, was arrested the next day and charged with indecent exposure and public intoxication. In his mugshot, he has cuts and abrasions to his face.

He is being held on $5,000 bond and is due in court Aug. 15.
