NORAD will conduct a training exercise in the D.C. area early Wednesday morning.
Between midnight and 2:30 a.m., a series of training flights will be held with the Federal Aviation Administration, the National Capital Region Coordination Center, the Joint Air Defense Operations Center, Civil Air Patrol, U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Air Force and CONR’s Eastern Air Defense Sector.
The exercise trains for responding to possible air threats.
If the weather doesn’t cooperate, the exercise will be held between midnight and 2:30 a.m. Thursday.
NORAD has conducted these training flights since the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.
