NORAD Responds to Aircraft in Nation's Capital

Civilian aircraft violates restricted area

Two U.S. Coast Guard helicopters intercepted a small aircraft as it entered restricted airspace over Washington Monday morning.

It happened about 9:00 A.M.

The civilian aircraft was seen and identified by the helicopters and allowed to continue to its destination.

The Coast Guard choppers were under the direction of the North American Aerospace Defense Command, or NORAD.

On Saturday, two F-15 fighter jets were called out to escort another small plane that violated the air space near Camp David where the First Family was staying.
