NBC4 Responds to Delayed Delivery

After a Maryland woman paid hundreds of dollars for furniture, she learned delivery was going to take a lot longer than she was originally told.

Savonna Robinson was expecting a house full of company at her Rockville home and she needed furniture. She went to a Cozi Furniture store and fell in love with a couch. It wasn’t in stock, but Robinson said the salesman told her it could be delivered soon.

“He said maybe a week or two,” she said. “I said, ‘Oh, no problem. OK.’”

She paid $841 for a couch and ottoman plus $149 for delivery, but once the transaction went through, another employee told her delivery would be in four to six weeks, she said.

Robinson immediately asked for a refund.

“They said I couldn’t get a refund,” she said. “Once it’s in, it’s in. What kind of store is this?”

So she waited. First she was told they didn’t have a driver. Then she was told they only deliver on Thursdays.

Then Robinson contacted NBC4 Responds, which called Cozi on Monday. The store delivered her furniture that Thursday.

“Cozi Furniture Company policy for furniture delivery is between 2-6 weeks,” the company said in a statement. “There may have been a prevailing circumstance that necessitated the sales person giving the customer a delivery time of 1-2 weeks. In any event, we've asked the customer to accept our sincere apology.”

Robinson had the delivery people carry the furniture up her stairs. They wanted more money, but she stood her ground and said she'd already paid almost $150 for delivery.
