Multi-Million-Dollar Lawsuit Filed Against Fig & Olive After Salmonella Outbreak

A woman has filed a multi-million-dollar lawsuit against the company that runs the D.C. restaurant Fig & Olive after at least 10 cases of salmonella were linked to the upscale eatery.

The lawsuit filed Friday was filed on the basis of personal injury and product liability, federal court records show.

The woman who filed the suit did not immediately respond to inquiries. Fig & Olive declined to comment.

More than 60 people became ill after recently eating at the restaurant in the CityCenterDC retail and dining complex in Northwest D.C. Another 150 possible cases are being investigated, the head of the D.C. Department of Health said.

Fig & Olive met the requirement to reopen Wednesday and will offer every diner a complimentary dessert for the next month with lunch or dinner.
