The woman charged in a car crash that killed five children and a 23-year-old man in Maryland in February had marijuana in her system in addition to alcohol, prosecutors said at a hearing Thursday.
A judge ordered Dominique Taylor, the mother of two of the children who died, held on $100,000.
Taylor appeared at the hearing in a wheelchair and hard neck brace and said she has a spinal injury requiring multiple surgeries. She said she needs to leave jail and go back to the hospital.
Prosecutors said they don't think her injuries are as bad as she says. They said Taylor went to court for a child support hearing and lunged at someone. They said she had no brace and was using a crutch.
Prosecutors said she's a threat and should remain in jail.
Prince George's County State's Attorney Aisha Braveboy on Tuesday announced six counts of vehicular manslaughter and six counts of vehicular homicide while under the influence of alcohol.
Police arranged with Taylor's attorney for her to turn herself in to police Wednesday afternoon.
The single-car crash at about 4:25 a.m. Feb. 2 killed sisters London Dixon, 8, and Paris Dixon, 5, who were Taylor's daughters.
Three of the sisters' cousins also were killed: Damari Herald, 15, Zion Beard, 14, and Rickelle Ricks, 6.
The children were pronounced dead at the scene after being thrown from the Chrysler Pacifica Taylor was driving on Route 301 near Pointer Ridge Drive in Bowie.
Police said none of the children were properly restrained.
The sixth victim, Cornell "Donte" Smith was taken off life support on Feb. 18, weeks after the crash.
Taylor's blood alcohol level is believed to have been at least twice the legal limit, Braveboy said.
