More Trouble for Silver Line

Virginians Support Waivering

Metro’s Silver Line supporters are in for more bad news.

Not only is funding for the second phase at risk, now most Virginians say they don’t even support the project.

A poll conducted by The Washington Post found that only 32 percent of Virginians think the project is extremely or very important, compared to the 64 percent that say it is not.

However, two-thirds of northern Virginia residents do support the project with more than 40 percent saying it is extremely important.

The second phase lost significant funding when Virginia’s general assembly withheld $300 million for the project from the budget.
