More Than 700 Marijuana Plants Seized in Kent County, Maryland

Authorities say they seized more than 700 marijuana plants with a street value of about $1.45 million at a pot farm in Kent County, Maryland, this summer.

Police said Monday that they discovered the plants Aug. 20 at an abandoned property in Chesterville. Investigators searched a house on the property and found an indoor grow in the basement where plants had been started before they were moved outside.

Police say the property was overgrown and the home had been entirely covered in plywood.

Investigators say several days of surveillance in the days leading up to the bust did not reveal anyone coming or going from the property. No arrests have been made in the case.

A pit bull guarding the marijuana fields was taken into custody by Animal Control and adopted.
