More Charges Filed in UVA Student's Death

Huguely faces 5 more charges in Yeardley Love homicide case

Five more charges have been filed against the prime suspect in the death of University of Virginia lacrosse player Yeardley Love.

George Huguely, Love's former boyfriend and fellow lacrosse player at UVA, now faces felony murder, robbery, burglary, statutory burglary, and grand larceny charges. The 23-year old was already facing a first-degree murder charge in Love's death after her body was found in her apartment last May.

Huguely's lawyers said in a statement that the new charges were expected and they are fully prepared to defend against them. According to WHSV in Charlottesville:

"The robbery charge could stem from the theft of Love's laptop computer.According to court documents, Huguely admitted to police that he took the laptop when he left her apartment. Adding robbery charge to a felony murder charge could give prosecutors the option to seek the death penalty. "

Love was found dead May 3 in her apartment after suffering blunt-force trauma to the head. Huguely grew up in our area. He was a resident of Chevy Chase and attended the Landon School.
