Montgomery County's Schools Superintendent To Hold Town Hall Meetings

Montgomery County's new schools superintendent is inviting parents to get to know him at a series of upcoming town halls and public meetings.

Dr. Joshua Starr says he's eager to answer questions about his plans for the school system beginning with a so-called 'Listen and Learn' event. It's the first of two upcoming town halls and 10 public meetings scheduled to introduce the new school's head to county parents.

Among other items, Starr says he supports Montgomery County's gifted and talented program but feels the label has been applied too broadly. Starr also says he's not in favor of merit pay strategies for teachers because the process hasn't been proven.

That first 'Listen and Learn' event is scheduled for Tuesday Sept. 6 at Northwest High School in Germantown.
