Montgomery County Middle School Bathroom Vandalized With Swastikas

A boys' bathroom at a Bethesda, Maryland, middle school was vandalized with multiple images of swastikas, the school's principal said in a letter to parents.

Westland Middle School Principal Alison Serino said the swastikas were drawn with an ink pen, pencil and glue stick.

After police and school staff documented the vandalism, the images were removed, Serino said.

Montgomery County Police Capt. Paul Starks said the vandalism is being investigated as a "hate incident."

"We are very saddened by this incident. This type of behavior will not be tolerated. Once the culprit(s) are identified, consequences will be administered in accordance with the MCPS Student Code of Conduct," Serino said in the letter.
