ROCKVILLE, Md. -- Montgomery County's environmental protection director, Bob Hoyt, has acknowledged that a report showing a decline in water quality in some county waterways has been withheld from the public.
The waterways are near new developments in the northern part of the county.
Hoyt said he and other officials in the county government have been discussing possible solutions before releasing the data, which has been known to officials for at least six months.
An aide to County Executive Isiah Leggett, Jennifer Hughes, said the administration wanted to be able to propose solutions when it releases the data. She said the administration "is not trying to withhold anything" and now plans to release the report this week.
