A Montgomery County firefighter died Thursday after his motorcycle collided with a truck in Upper Marlboro.
Crews responded to the intersection of Central Avenue and Staton Drive just after 2 p.m. Police say a driver attempted to make a left turn and instead flipped over, landing on top of the motorcycle driver, Garrett Greene. The official cause of the crash remains under investigation.
Greene, the father of a young daughter, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not on duty at the time of the crash.
"He had a great personality," Pete Piringer with Montgomery County Fire told News4. "He had some great aptitude for the job."
Greene, a career firefighter with Montgomery County since 2012, also volunteered for the Kentland Volunteer Fire Department in Prince George's County.
