Michelle Obama Pays Another Visit to Sidwell

Obamas continue vetting D.C. schools

WASHINGTON -- Michelle Obama visited Sidwell Friends School again Tuesday, as the first-family-to-be continues searching for a school for 10-year-old Malia, a fifth-grader, and 7-year-old Sasha, who is in the second grade.

Last week, Michelle Obama visited Georgetown Day School and Sidwell Friends.

Barack Obama's family also discussed public school options with D.C. officials.

City officials will support whatever decision the Obamas make, according to a statement released last week.

Chelsea Clinton attended Sidwell Friends.

Obama Children Visit White House, Too

Malia and Sasha Obama were to see their new rooms at the White House on Tuesday, as well.

At the invitation of first lady Laura Bush, the Obama daughters were touring the White House with their mother and grandmother.

Sasha, 7, and Malia, 10, along with their mother were expected to spend a short time touring the First Family's residential rooms at the White House, said Mrs. Obama's spokeswoman, Katie McCormick Lelyveld.  Mrs. Obama's mother, Marian Robinson, was also with the group.

"The first lady graciously invited Mrs. Obama, her mother and the girls to visit what will be their new home," Lelyveld said. "Of course, Mrs. Obama greatly appreciated this invitation to provide an opportunity for the girls to feel at home and become comfortable in this transition process."

The visit was strictly private, with no media coverage or photos.
