Helping Hands -- an inspiring TV series documenting the work of the Michael & Son Cares Program -- returns to the air Saturday, March 8 at 10 a.m. on NBC4. This season, expect more inspiring stories of the local business and their passion for community service.

With a focus on aiding the families of children with disabilities and illnesses, the Michael & Son Cares Program helps families with essential home repairs and remodeling that they otherwise could not afford.

In the first episode of 2014, viewers will meet Rebecca, a young girl with a beaming smile from Centerville, VA.  Rebecca was born with cerebral palsy and as a result is a quadriplegic confined to a wheelchair. After being born prematurely, doctors gave her only 24 hours to live, but Rebecca has defied all the odds and is 11 years old today.

In order to give Rebecca mobility and the freedom to move between floors, an elevator was installed in the family’s home. Unfortunately, the contractors who built the elevator didn't properly install the sump pump, causing frequent flooding in Rebecca’s play room.

Unable to afford the high cost of replacing the sump pump, Rebecca’s mother reached out to the Michael & Son Cares Program. Shortly after meeting the family, Michael & Son began the work to replace the original pump with a larger, more industrial pump.

But the Michael & Son team didn't stop there. They surprised Rebecca with revamped living area that included a 60 inch television. Tune it to see her surprise and the whole heart-warming story on the next episode of Helping Hands this Saturday, March 8 at 10 a.m. on NBC4.
