Metro's Track Work to Continue Into Columbus Day

Trains to operate on a Saturday schedule on Monday

Metro is planning to use Columbus Day weekend for an extra day of track maintenance.

Starting Friday evening, Red Line trains will single-track between Judiciary Square and Fort Totten. Riders on the eastern part of the line should add 20 minutes to their travel time, Metro says.

On the Orange line, trains will single-track between Stadium-Armory and Cheverly. Customers traveling east of Stadium-Armory should allow 15 minutes of additional travel time.

On Columbus Day on Monday, trains will operate on a Saturday schedule, with track work continuing through the day. Metrorail will open at 5 a.m. and close at midnight. Although buses will also run on a Saturday schedule, some post-midnight trips will not run.
