Metro's Weekend Track Work Continues

Three Red Line stations closed for weekend

Three stations on Metro's Red Line will be closed this weekend for scheduled maintenance work.

The Shady Grove, Rockville and Twinbrook stations will close at 10 p.m. Friday so crews can spend the weekend replacing track circuit modules as part of work recommended by the National Transportation Safety Board.

Buses will replace Red Line trains between Shady Grove and White Flint, and passengers traveling through that area can expect delays.

Meanwhile, on the Blue and Orange lines, maintenance work will have trains sharing a single track all weekend between Eastern Market and Stadium Armory.

All this work is part of Metro's $5 billion Capital Improvement Program. The on-going project is expected to last six years.

Service is scheduled to return to normal Monday morning.
