Metro to Open Early for Army Ten-Miler

Metro is opening early on Sunday to accommodate those attending the Army Ten-Miler, but riders on the Red Line may want to add some extra time to their commute.

Orange, Silver, Blue, Yellow and Green Line trains will operate at regular weekend intervals, but on Saturday, trains at Landover and New Carollton will operate every 20 to 25 minutes between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m.

Metro says Red Line trains will operate every 22 minutes between Shady Grove and Glenmont this weekend, with additional trains running every 12 minutes between Grosvenor and NoMa-Gallaudet between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday.

Stations will open at 5 a.m. on Sunday for riders attending the Army Ten-Miler. The closest station to the start of the race is the Pentagon Metro Station on the Blue/Yellow Line, but riders should also consider getting off at Pentagon City to avoid potential crowding at Pentagon.

Trains will operate on a Saturday schedule on Monday for Columbus Day. Stations will open at 5 a.m. and close at midnight. Parking at all Metro-owned lots and garages is free on Columbus Day.
