Metro to Open 5 a.m. Saturday; Changes to Red and Orange Lines This Weekend

The Metro will open at 5 a.m. Saturday for riders traveling to the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. The start line is accessible from Metro Center, Federal Triangle and the Smithsonian station.

Other changes to weekend Metro service are as follows:

  • Orange Line trains will run every 24 minutes.
  • Red Line trains will run every 15 minutes between Shady Grove and Glenmont, with additional trains between Shady Grove and NoMa-Gallaudet during daytime hours.

Those changes begin at 10 p.m. Friday and continue through system closing on Sunday.

A previously scheduled service adjustment at the Greenbelt station has been cancelled. Green Line trains will operate on a regular weekend schedule between Greenbelt and Branch Avenue. On Saturday and Sunday nights from 10 p.m. until closing, passengers at West Hyattsville will board all trains on the Greenbelt platform.
