Metro DC Gas Prices Keep Falling

Prices down another 18 cents in one week

Drivers can keep smiling at the pump these days.  The price of gasoline in the metropolitan Washington area keeps falling, following the major drop in the cost of crude oil, according to AAA Mid-Atlantic.

Wolesale prices for gas are so low that in some parts of the country, retail pump prices have dipped to as low as $1.75 a gallon.  Here in the DC area,  the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded is $2.16.  That's down 18 cents from a week ago.

These prices will give people heading out of town for the Thanksgiving holiday another reason to be thankful.  "Falling gas prices will continue to put extra money in motorists' wallets," said John Townsend with AAA Mid-Atlantic. "Filling the tank this Thanksgiving will cost substantially less than last year when gas prices were topping $3 a gallon."

AAA will soon release its travel projections for the Thanksgiving holiday.
