Metro Closures to Slow Down Orange Line this Weekend

It will be a good weekend to avoid Metro's Orange Line, if at all possible.

The transit agency is doing track work between the New Carrollton and Stadium-Armory stations. Those stations, and the five stations between them, will be closed while the repairs are under way.

Metro said the work will ensure a smoother, safer (not to mention federally recommended) ride for passengers. But it's going to mean a slow trip for many riders in the meantime.

The station shutdowns will begin Friday at 8 p.m. Normal service resumes when the system reopens Monday morning.

Unfortunately, the shutdowns don't help those who will be taking Metro to the Capitals' playoff game at the Verizon Center or those who are headed to the Nationals' game.  If you're headed to the games from these stations, you'll have trouble getting home.

Free shuttles will run between the impacted stations. Metro has more closure details here.
