Metro Calling All Performing Artists

Transit system to hold summer auditions for station performances

Calling all performers! Calling all performers! If you sing, dance, play music, write poetry or have any other “act,” and you don’t suffer from stage fright, Metro may have just the stage for you!

Once again this year, Metro will hold auditions for performing artists who will get to strut their stuff at stations throughout the system. The auditions, for individuals and groups, are another presentation of Metro’s “Art in Transit Program,” which showcases local talent much to the delight of riders who are just passing by or who have a little time to kill between trains.

The auditions take place Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Metro Headquarters located at 600 Fifth St. NW. To try out, you have to be a D.C. resident. If you represent an organization, DC has to be your principle place of business. All applicants have to show ID to get into the auditions, and you have to register on site prior to auditioning. Audition slots are first-come, first-served.

So put on your dancing shoes, warm up those vocals, strike up the band and let’s get the show on the tracks.
