Md. Man Charged With Hitting Woman With Car

A western Maryland man has been arrested on charges of hitting a woman with his car.

Michael Ford, 37, of Cumberland was arguing with a woman Saturday night when both of them got in their cars and began ramming the vehicles into each other, police said.

The woman got out of her car and walked toward Ford's car when he pulled forward and opened the driver's door, police said. The door hit the woman and threw her to the ground. She was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Ford initially fled but returned to the scene and was arrested on charges of first- and second-degree assault, disorderly conduct and other traffic offenses, police said.

The Cumberland Times-News reports that Ford was being held on $3,000 bail.
