A 19-year-old Frederick County woman accused of fatally stabbing her grandmother has been found competent to stand trial.
Wednesday, a psychiatrist found Harris capable of rational conversation with her lawyer and able to understand the charges.
The judge ordered Harris held without bond in a Frederick County jail. She is charged with first-degree murder, second-degree murder and first-degree assault in the stabbing death of 67-year-old Lillie Morris on Dec. 22.
Morris was found mortally wounded on the front lawn of the house she shared with her granddaughter near Burkittsville. Prosecutors said Morris was stabbed or cut 23 times with a kitchen knife.
According to court documents, Harris said she saw a man in a ski mask running from the house shortly after the attack. But police said Harris' statements were inconsistent after investigators found blood on Harris' arms and on a T-shirt inside the house.
Harris was ordered to undergo a mental health evaluation last month.

Morris worked as an instructional assistant for Frederick County Public Schools for 29 years, most of it at Brunswick High School. Morris' friends and family described her as "a force for good" in her community.
A preliminary hearing is set for Jan. 29. A trial date has not been set.
