Md. Transportation Head Tapped for Federal Post

ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- President Barack Obama's administration has announced an intent to nominate Maryland Transportation Secretary John Porcari to be deputy secretary at the U.S. Transportation Department.

Porcari, who also served as Maryland's transportation secretary in former Gov. Parris Glendening's administration, has presided over initial stages of developing the $2.4 billion InterCounty Connector, an 18-mile highway through the Washington suburbs.

Porcari also was involved in developing the $2.4 billion Woodrow Wilson Bridge.
