Montgomery County Police say they are investigating the death of a child under the age of 2, but have not yet released his or her cause of death.
Fire crews were called to a Silver Spring home Thursday afternoon for an unconscious person. EMS personnel performed CPR on the child, who was later transported to a local hospital.
Police say the child was later pronounced dead.
No other details surrounding the case have been released.
The county has dealt with a slew of child deaths this year. A former NSA official was charged last month for allegedly beating his 3-year-old adopted son to death. In January, two toddlers were killed in Germantown during what police are calling an attempted exorcism.
