Md. Man to Be Sentenced in Beer Pong Sex Assault Case

A Montgomery County man convicted of sexually assaulting men he met at beer pong events is set to be sentenced Wednesday.

Forty-year-old Joey Poindexter is scheduled to be sentenced in Montgomery County Circuit Court. In two trials earlier this year, jurors found Poindexter of 11 counts of second- and third-degree sex offense.

Poindexter was convicted of assaulting five men, but prosecutors believe there are at least two dozen more victims, based on videos and photos they say Poindexter took of the assaults. Prosecutors say Poindexter met several of the men at beer pong tournaments, including one at a bar in College Park.

Poindexter faces up to 200 years in prison. Prosecutors are asking for the maximum.

Poindexter's attorney didn't return a call for comment Tuesday.
