Md. Man Leads Rally to Support Deaf in Military

A Maryland School for the Deaf teacher from Frederick is leading a rally in support of allowing the deaf and hard-of-hearing to serve in the U.S. military.

The event Friday near the White House is organized by Keith Nolan. Nolan participated in the Reserve Officers' Training Corps but couldn't rise through the ranks of the military because he's deaf.

He's leading a rally in support of bills in the U.S. House and Senate that would create a demonstration program for 15 to 20 deaf and hard-of-hearing Americans to receive training to be U.S. Air Force Officers.
