A 6-year-old boy died after falling into an icy lake in Buckeystown, Md., over the Presidents Day weekend.
It happened at about 6:30 p.m. Sunday near the Chum Xa Loi Temple located on the 6300 block of Manor Woods Road, according to the Frederick Co. Sheriff’s Department.
Two boys, ages 6 and 7, were walking on a frozen area of a lake on the property. The ice gave way and the youngsters fell into the frigid water. The older child was able to climb to safety. He ran and got help. A relative pulled the other boy out of the water, but it was too late.
Initially, the 6-year-old victim was taken to Frederick Memorial Hospital for treatment. He was then transported to Children’s Hospital in D.C. He was pronounced dead early Monday morning.
Authorities are investigating.
