McDonnell Endorses Springfield Site for New FBI Headquarters

The governor of Virginia endorsed a Fairfax County site as the best place to build the new FBI headquarters.

Gov. Bob McDonnell supports building on the General Services Administration warehouse location in Springfield.

He sent a letter to FBI Director Robert Mueller saying the move would save money on land because the GSA already owns the property, and that site meets strict security guidelines.

The FBI wants to relocate from its current headquarters on Pennsylvania Avenue in D.C. because of the building’s size and deteriorating condition.

Leaders in Loudoun, Prince William and Prince George's counties also are pushing sites for the new building.
