McAuliffe to Address Va. Transportation Panel

Gov. Terry McAuliffe will be on hand when the Commonwealth Transportation Board votes on a final six-year transportation blueprint for Virginia.

The board is scheduled to meet Wednesday in Richmond.

Earlier this year, the board staked out a six-year transportation plan that totals $13.1 billion, with $9.9 billion earmarked for highway construction.

The board allocates funding for essential highway, bridge, rail and other transportation projects, starting July 1.

The program is updated annually to reflect the latest revenue projections and other priorities.

Besides highway construction, the plan allocates $3.2 billion for rail and public transportation.

The transportation plan went on a round of public meetings around the state before Wednesday's scheduled vote.
