Maryland Student Robbed in College Park

Police: Man showed gun, demanded money

Prince George's County Police are investigating an armed robbery that happened early Saturday morning in College Park.

Investigators say that a University of Maryland student was walking in the area of Lakeland Road and Berwyn House Road at around 3:45 a.m. when he was approached by another man. Police say the suspect showed a silver handgun, demanded money from the student and ran away after the student surrendered the money in his wallet. 

It is not known how much money the suspect made off with as a result of the robbery. The student was not injured. The suspect is described as a man standing approximately 5 feet, 10 inches and weighing approximately 170 pounds. He was last seen wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans and fleeing in the direction of Baltimore Avenue. 

One person whose clothing matched the description was stopped and questioned by University of Maryland Police, but later released.
