Lockdown Lifted at Maryland Elementary School

A Maryland elementary school was locked down for about three hours Thursday afternoon because of a barricade situation in the neighborhood.

The lockdown was lifted after 4:30 p.m.

Parents were allowed to pick up their children at Apple Grove Elementary School in Fort Washington, but no students were allowed to walk home, and no buses were leaving the school.

The barricade in the 2800 block of Wood Hollow Place started about 1:30 p.m. when police received a report of an armed person threatening suicide inside a home. A man was taken into custody to resolve the barricade.
