Man in Custody After Jumping White House Fence

A man was quickly taken into custody after jumping the White House fence Tuesday evening, CNN reported.

CNN cameras caught the Secret Service taking the man down while broadcasting live from the north lawn.  A backpack also thrown onto the White House lawn did not contain any dangerous materials.

Authorities say the 41-year-old intruder, identified as James Dirk Crudup, was homeless.  He was taken to jail and charged with unlawful entry.

Secret Service confirmed that the President was in the White House during the incident but said he was never in any danger.
